Objective 2 aims to support the economic and social conversion of industrial, rural, urban and fisheries areas facing structural difficulties. Ways in which it does this are:
- Creating a more dynamic economic environment by encouraging business creation and survival
- Improving the competitiveness of existing businesses
- Reducing levels of deprivation in the region’s most disadvantaged communities
- Increasing business investment and economic growth
