Arts and Creative Industries

Government Office for the West Midlands (GOWM) promotes Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) policies in region by linking DCMS policy with the aims of other Government Departments. GOWM also influences the development of new strategies so that the potential contribution of the Arts and Creative Industries is properly recognised.

The aim of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is to maximise the contribution of the arts sector, and through this to improve the quality of life of all. It also works with the creative industries, which are those industries with their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent and which have a potential for wealth and job creation through the generation and exploitation of intellectual property.
