A Regional Cultural Consortium (RCC) has been established in each of the English regions outside London. In London under the Greater London Authority Act, the Cultural Strategy Group for London appointed by the Mayor has a similar role to a Consortium.

Culture West Midlands champions the activities of the cultural sectors in the West Midlands; bringing these organisations together and providing a ‘voice’ for the cultural sector in the region. Culture West Midlands also advises the Government on cultural matters in the region.The current Chair Dr Brian Woods-Scawen is supported by a small team of staff based at the Regional Partnership Centre.

Government Office for the West Midlands is also a member of the Regional Cultural Forum, which brings together other public bodies involved in culture in the region such as The Arts Council, Sport England, Local Government and others. The Cultural Forum is a grouping of the main organisations that have an interest in culture in the West Midlands and are responsible for dissemination and/or delivery of Department for Culture, Media and Sport policies.
The Forum and the Regional Cultural Consortium work in partnership, striving to implement the actions in the region’s Cultural Strategy.
