City of Worcester Council

Below are the Regulation 26 (Preferred Options stage) and 28 (Submission stage) responses made by the Government Office for the West Midlands to the City of Worcester Council Development Plan Documents. These responses were made under The Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004.

City of Worcester Council has not yet reached Regulation 26 of the preparation of a Development Plan Document. Each time a Development Plan Document reaches Regulations 26 and 28, the Government Office response to the DPD will be placed here.

Extension of ‘Saved Policies’ beyond the three-year period

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 provides for the saving of policies in adopted or approved local, structure and unitary development plans for a period of 3 years from the commencement date of the Act, which was 28 September 2004. Policies in adopted or approved plans at commencement date are due to expire on 27 September 2007 unless the Secretary of State has made a direction to extend such policies beyond that date.

The Directions that have been made by the Secretary of State in relation to the West Midlands local and structure plans are set out below. Two 3rd-party representations were received requesting the saving of particular policies in the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Structure Plan and the Cannock Chase Local Plan; the Secretary of State’s decisions on these are also set out.
