Crime Reduction Initiatives

Government Office for the West Midlands is responsible for co-ordinating a number of crime reduction initiatives, including providing advice and guidance for partners and monitoring performance against Government targets.

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998, amended by the Police Reform Act 2002, sets out statutory requirements for responsible authorities to work with other local agencies and organisations to develop and implement strategies to tackle crime and disorder and misuse of drugs in their area. Initiatives that we are co-ordinating include:

  • Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP)
  • Street Crime Initiative
  • Domestic Violence Initiative
